About Kiva

Help people move better so they can live better.

Movement is one of the most powerful forces in our lives. It gives us freedom, confidence, and the ability to do the things we love. At Kiva, we believe it should be protected, strengthened, and celebrated long before problems appear.

    Why the Name Kiva?

    A modern space for movement

Traditionally, a kiva is a place where people gather to learn, grow, and transform.

We see Kiva as a modern space for movement — a place where people come to build stronger bodies, improve mobility, and unlock their physical potential.

Our mission is simple: help people move better so they can live better. By combining movement science, expert guidance, and practical daily routines, our goal is to help strengthen the foundations of your body before injuries and limitations slow you down.

"Mobility isn't just about flexibility. It's about freedom."

    The freedom to play.

    The freedom to explore.

    The freedom to compete.

    The freedom to travel.

To keep saying "yes" to the activities you love.

    About the Founder

    Dr. Luis Montes, DPT

Doctor of Physical Therapy, Founder of Kiva InMotion

Dr. Luis Montes, DPT, Founder of Kiva InMotion

Luis Montes has been an athlete his whole life — collegiate soccer, distance running, and now tennis and pickleball. Along the way he's dealt with the same knees, back, and shoulder aches that most active people eventually run into. What kept him in the game wasn't luck; it was catching things early and treating movement as something to maintain, not just fix after it breaks.

That approach changed for good in his 40s. As his training shifted and his body started talking back more than it used to, Luis leaned harder into joint mobility and stability work — testing routines on himself for years before he ever brought them to a patient. That process became the foundation for Precision Mobility™, Kiva's individualized approach to movement built on five core pillars: mobility, flexibility, stability, strength, and balance.

Luis earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Northwestern University in 2001 and holds an MBA from Nova Southeastern University. He's a licensed physical therapist in California with nearly 25 years of clinical experience, specializing in orthopedic and sports medicine care for the older athlete.

He's also spent his career building things: he's owned and run his own outpatient orthopedic practice, held management roles at multi-state therapy companies in post-acute care, and founded health-tech companies focused on helping clinicians work more efficiently in the field. That combination — hands-on clinical care plus a track record of building healthcare businesses — is what shaped Kiva.

    Why Kiva?

Traditional physical therapy has a blind spot: it's built to treat the musculoskeletal system after it breaks down, not to help people take care of it before it does. Getting help usually means a physician referral, a multi-week wait, and a trip to a brick-and-mortar clinic — even for something that a few targeted exercises could address early. Luis believes movement is medicine, and that prevention beats a cure. Kiva exists to give active adults 40+ a way to address aches, stiffness, and early pain before they become injuries, surgeries, or long recoveries — so they can keep playing the sports they love, longer.
